Knicks Media Day

Oh Joy. Knicks Media Day is here, along with training camp. The circus is in town! Stephon Marbury is crazy as ever. He has been a sideshow distraction for years now, and it's time for it to end. Hopefully this guy finally gets it together but I just don't see it happening. There were flocks of reporters surrounding him asking questions about his future with the team, and apparently the rest of his teammates were visibly unhappy. Some were even quoted saying stuff like "I can't believe he's still here". Wow.

Allan Houston is also trying to make his 2nd comeback, I hear he's looking pretty good. Check out this video of him nailing 10 three pointers in a row at a recent practice. Silky Smooth.

There are a lot of new faces, and unfortunately a lot of old ones. Lets break down the current 15 man roster and the additional hopefuls. Who will stay? Who will leave?

Definites:

21 Wilson Chandler F 6-8

11 Jamal Crawford G 6-5

34 Eddy Curry C 6-11

1 Chris Duhon G 6-1

8 Danilo Gallinari F 6-10

20 Jared Jeffries F 6-11

42 David Lee F 6-9

50 Zach Randolph F 6-9

23 Quentin Richardson F-G 6-6

4 Nate Robinson G 5-9

That's 10. Room for 5 more.

Likely:

25 Mardy Collins G 6-6

13 Jerome James C 7-1

3 Stephon Marbury G 6-2

31 Malik Rose F 6-7

All of these players have guaranteed contracts, so they would have to be bought out and paid if they were to be released. However, all of their futures with the team seem to be in jeopardy.

Hopefuls:

If the Knicks can't make any trades and don't decide to waive anyone (Listen below to a good interview in which Donnie Walsh explains how he's never bought out any player and doesn't seem like he's planning on doing so). Then that would mean only one of these 4 hopefuls can make it. My number one preference is Patrick Ewing Junior, he obviously has the most to offer at this point. But I'd like for the Knicks to waive Jerome James AND preferably Malik Rose in order to make room for Allan Houston and Anthony Roberson. I don't see this happening, but hopefully we can get rid of at least Jerome and bring in someone positive like Allan.

Donnie Walsh Speaks about Marbury & Co moving forward

Another side note, Eddy Curry is too fat to practice. No just kidding. Well not really. He's out sick for the first day of training camp. Not a good sign, but I love Mike D'Antoni's humor: "You know what, I heard he was throwing up and everything, so, it's a great way to lose weight."

We'll see what developments come from training camp this week, until then - check out these pics from media day:

Jerome James: "Q, are you gunna eat that hot dog?" Q Rich: "Actually Jerome, this is a Microphone."
Nate being Nate

Anthony Roberson admires one of the greatest moments in Knick History.

Old school meets New school.

LeBron sick of exit talk

By Bob Finnan

Apparently, Cavaliers forward LeBron James is getting fed up with the question.

He was asked about leaving in free agency in 2010 on Monday during media day. He said he’s not given any indication that he was unhappy in Cleveland.

“Go on the Internet and see every time I’ve been asked if I’m happy in Cleveland and see my response,” he said. “It’s simple. I’ve never given any indication I was leaving Cleveland or I didn’t like being here.

“I love being here and playing in front of these fans. My family is here. I grew up 30 miles away from here.”
